What to Expect at Your First Tattoo Appointment (With Me)

Updated: Apr 29

Getting your first tattoo can feel exciting and a little scary — especially if you don’t know what to expect. Whether you’re getting a custom design or choosing from one of my flash sets, I want your session to feel relaxed, comfortable, and safe.

Here’s how the process works step-by-step:

1. Booking & Consultation

To start, you can fill out a booking form on my website or reach out on Instagram or write me an Email. Be sure to include:

• The idea or theme

• Placement

• Budget (if you have one)

• Any inspiration images

From there, I’ll get back to you with available dates, ask follow-up questions if needed, and confirm your appointment with a deposit.

2. Before the Session

You’ll get a reminder with the studio address and preparation tips. But here’s what I always recommend:

• Eat a full meal before your session

• Stay hydrated

• Get plenty of sleep the night before

• Avoid alcohol or heavy partying the day before

• Do not go to the gym at the same day when your session !!!

Wear comfortable clothes that allow easy access to the tattoo area. Dark clothing is ideal in case of ink/ marker/ stencil stains.

3. Design

If it’s a custom tattoo - I’ll send you sketches of  your design in a week/ few days before session to approve that I designed your idea exactly as you want it. Once everything is great - i will proceed with the details and stencil outline. On the session we’ll go over it together, make small adjustments if needed, and once you’re happy, I’ll prep your skin and stencil the design on.

If you booked a flash piece/ available design- we’ll go straight into choosing the placement and sizing.

4. During the Tattoo

We’ll take breaks as needed, and I’ll walk you through each step.

I can be chaotic, but not when i am working :) i prefer a chill, focused environment — whether you want to chat or  zone out with headphones.

For first-timers: yes, be tattooed is not a pleasant feeling— but not as bad as your friends / imagination tells you. Most people describe it as annoying more than unbearable. The adrenaline usually helps you get through it ;) And if it’s too spicy - we always can use some numbing stuff in the process !

5. Aftercare & Healing

Once your tattoo is done, I’ll cover it and walk you through aftercare instructions. I use and recommend Healing tattoo butter (you’ll get a full guide for how to use it) or any other healing ointments with clean / natural ingredients.

You’ll get:

• A clean bandage or wrap

• Instructions for cleaning and moisturizing + Tips on what to avoid (sun, gym, sauna, etc)

• An antibacterial soap and Healing tattoo butter

You can also find aftercare info on my website anytime here for healing with “second skin” and here for the traditional method.

Summary

Whether it’s your first tattoo or your tenth, I care deeply about the whole experience — not just the art. I want you to leave feeling confident, informed, and excited about your new piece.

Cheers 🥂
